Fighting Cancer, One Game at a Time!
A new year is here with a new set of goals. Here’s an update on where we are with our 2009 plan.
The 2009 Men’s and Coed Schedules have been posted. We will likely alter them a bit, as the seasons get going, but you can keep up with us and our progress by checking out the Schedule Page.
Shirts and Logos and Rover Plus Nine are our uniform partners for 2009. Shirts and Logos will be supporting our fund raising efforts this year. Look out for all new apparel available from the website in the store, which will launch in late February.
The season has actually already started. The Men’s team has played in three tournaments to date, finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 1st. That’s a pretty good start.
Happy Holidays Everyone.
First, I wanted to thank you all very much for your support in 2008. Even if you just came by the website and cruised around a bit, then told a friend about us, you made a difference this year.
SaveSecond.com had a great 2008. We donated a total of $2,600 to the 3 Day Events this year and helped three of our favorite walkers achieve their goals. In our first year, that’s a huge success. We raised these funds purely by hard work and grass-roots kinds of efforts. Here is how the finds were raised:
$1,000 Donation from David Jimenez
$1,000 Raised through the sale of SaveSecond.com wristbands and t-shirts
$600 Raised from the 3rd Annual SaveSecond.com / Leigh Power Memorial Softball Tournament
We have already started planning for 2009. Here are some of the things in the works:
The search is on for a couple of corporate sponsors and partners. I assure you that you will not find a better cause or a harder working group of people to partner with. We have and will continue to make a positive difference in the community in 2009. Can you help us? WILL you help us? You should!
I cannot complete this Year in Review without thanking a few folks:
Joe James and Gordon from Shirts and Logos. These guys are something special. Gordon’s wife is a survivor so this cause is a passion for him, like it is the rest of the folks on the SaveSecond.com team. Joe and Gordon have bent over backward for us through about 8 rounds of apparel orders. They did so with a focus on delivering to my commitments, which is often difficult to do. Joe James and Gordon, you have a customer and friend for life. THANK YOU!

These are some of the best people walking this planet in my opinion. They were a huge help this year and I only hope that they will continue to help in 2009, whether they are playing ball with the group or not. We had an phenominal time this year playing ball, and thanks for the laughs and memories along the way.
Remember that you can leave a comment if you want to. I’d love to hear from those of you that have kept up with us along the way.
Thanks everyone,
Dave

The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department, especially Tim Baggett, whose support and leadership during the 3rd Annual Leigh Power Memorial made the event such a success.
The City of Fort Worth and City of Arlington area USSSA umpires. There are too many to name one by one, but I really appreciate you all donating much of your time during the event in Leigh’s honor and for a good cause.
Last, but not least, the people that volunteered their time during the tournament to help in any way they could. We thank you so much for that support and I for one know that there is no way the event would have worked out like it did without you.
Tomorrow is the big day. We have 26 total teams. 15 in the Men’s Division and 11 in th Coed Division. It should be a great time. Weather, as of right now, calls for sunny skies and 64 degrees. It could be a tad warmer, but it should be a nice day.

Now that you have had time to read all about what we are doing here, why not get in on a piece of the action. It's easy to do so. We have a bunch of really good looking stuff you should check out in the Shop.
If you just want to check out how things are going with the folks at savesecond.com, check out the Blog or the Schedule pages.
Profitable proceeds go straight to the cause. Thanks in advance for the support. We need all the help we can get.
