Fighting Cancer, One Game at a Time!
The Annual 3-Day Event benefiting Susan G. Koman for the Cure comes to Dallas/Fort Worth from November 7 - 9, 2008. Team Save Second Base is dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. So much so, that the 14 people on our team have together decided to dedicate our Coed Softball Tournament Season to two things; having an enormous amount of fun together, and raising awareness and money for this cause.
Our dedication to this comes about in the most classic way. Two years ago, our friend and teammate Kori Rouse was diagnosed with the disease. For Kori, it wasn’t about the cancer; it was about a renewed look at life. Kori is a survivor and now is working hard to help others become survivors and to live better lives after winning their fight. While Kori provides enough motivation for us all to get involved, this disease has affected several of us. Our grandmothers, our mothers, our sisters, our wives. For all of those people, we want to do something to make a difference in our community, while doing something we love.
Kori will participate in the 3-Day Event for the third year in a row this year. To participate in the event, each walker must raise a minimum of $2,200. It’s not about how many miles you complete in the walk; it is about the money that is raised to help awareness for the cure. That is where Save Second Base comes in. It is our intent to raise enough money for a few people close to Kori to walk alongside her in the event. That’s several thousand dollars.
For our team to succeed and reach our fund raising goal we need your help and support.

Be Bold… Everyone can make a Difference!
The first thing you should do is read the About Us page so that you can get a good feel for who we are and what we are doing. The Blog will simply be a tool in our mission to make a difference doing something that we all love. You'll catch all sorts of news and information on the blog. Generally speaking, you'll hear all about the great things we are doing on and off the field of play this year. If you want to shoot us a donation. The link is available just to the right. The goal is to raise several thousand dollars by the time the 3 Day Walk comes to Dallas on November 7. Thanks in advance for your help and dedication to this cause.
