Read then Act!

The Annual Breast Cancer 3-Day Event benefiting Susan G. Koman for the Cure comes to Dallas/Fort Worth from November 6 – 8, 2009. Team Save Second Base is dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. So much so, that the 28 people on our teams have together decided to dedicate our Softball Tournament Season to two things; having an enormous amount of fun together, and raising awareness and money for this cause.

Our dedication to this comes about in the most classic way. Three years ago, our friend and teammate Kori Rouse was diagnosed with the disease. For Kori, it wasn’t about the cancer; it was about a renewed look at life. Kori is a survivor and now is working hard to help others become survivors and to live better lives after winning their fight. While Kori provides enough motivation for us all to get involved, this disease has affected several of us. Our grandmothers, our mothers, our sisters, our wives. For all of those people, we want to do something to make a difference in our community, while doing something we love.

Many will participate in the 3-Day Event this year. To participate in the event, each walker must raise a minimum of $2,200. It’s not about how many miles you complete in the walk; it is about the money that is raised to help awareness for the cure. That is where Save Second Base comes in. It is our intent to raise enough money for at least a few people to participate in the event this November. That’s several thousand dollars.

For our team to succeed and reach our fund raising goal we need your help and support.
We ask that you please consider supporting us. We give you a couple of options for doing so. Here are those options:

• Pledge to Team Save Second Base – This is how we earn your donation. Pledge $5, $10, whatever amount you wish per inning to our team. We will send you a statement monthly that will show you an account of the innings completed in the previous month, and the amount of money raised based on your pledge amount. Pledging is simple, send us an email with your contact information and we will call you and take care of the rest.
